An independent Bohemians supporters group has launched a new initiative to preserve Dalymount Park. The Dalymount Trust will be involved in fund-raising as well as raising the interest in Dalymount Park and its place in Irish football history.
The press release from the Dalymount Trust in full :
"Friday, 13th May 2005, sees the launch of a new kind of supporters' group dedicated to a place that we all hold true in our hearts - Dalymount Park.
This great old stadium has been the home of Bohemian FC, and the spiritual home of Irish football, for 104 years. Over the last century it has seen some of the greatest glory and deepest pathos that Irish football can produce. In 104 years
the stadium itself has seen great swings in its fortunes as a sporting amenity and asset to Bohemians. In these modern times, when chasing glory on the pitch is seen as almost the only means of survival, we fans need to rally around our clubs and help wherever we can. But, we also have a duty to leave something of our club to future generations of Bohemians to enjoy as we have done and our predecessors have before us.
The Dalymount Trust is an Independent Initiative, undertaken by a dedicated group of Bohs fans, all of whom, have been involved in running and fundraising in Dalymount, to various degrees, and have set up this initiative as an
independent means to securing the future of our beloved Dalymount Park.
Our Objectives
The main objective of The Dalymount Trust is to raise funds, specifically for the development of Dalymount Park football grounds, and, more generally, for the improvement of the infrastructure of The Bohemian Football Club.
It is the intention of the Trust to identify clearly defined projects which will be the recipients of funding from the Trust.
The main aims of the Trust are:
- The renovation and development of our great ground, Dalymount Park.
- To focus fund raising activities in areas which do not traditionally provide sources of income for Bohemian FC.
- To support projects which provide sustainable, medium or long term, benefit to the club.
- To raise awareness of Dalymount Park as a part of the heritage and history of Dublin City.
- To raise awareness of Dalymount Park as a part of the history of football in this country.
- To secure the future of Dalymount Park and Bohemian Football Club.
At first, projects will be small, but as time grows hopefully the size of the projects will grow too. It is the duty of all Bohs fans to help restore our ground to its former glory; both for the future of the club and also for all the members down the years that helped make Bohemian FC and Dalymount what they are.
The Trust will be run on an independent basis.
Fundraising
We have a host of fundraising plans, and one of our more interesting and original ones is the Football Legends Draw:
Football Legends Draw#1 - Diego Maradona
Remember that great goal he scored against England in 1986? Remember the other one where he beat all those players? He's a different class. He's a Football Legend! Now you can have a priceless memento of that great occasion if you win our framed 1986 Argentina Jersey, signed by Maradona himself.
The grand prize will be a Signed & Framed, 1986, Diego Maradona Jersey, which is on view in the Members' Bar in Dalymount Park.
Tickets will be on sale in the ground from Friday 13th May, priced just €5 and are available from any of the members of the Trust, at home games, or by contacting us through the form on our website: www.dalymounttrust.org.
The draw will take place on Saturday June 18th, to coincide with our home game in the UEFA Intertoto Cup match.
More information about the Trust and its activities can be found on our website:

The Trustees are: Graham Hopkins, John O'Connor, Martin English, Phil Byrne, Neil Mulvey, Bobby Harpur and Mark Lane. We will be actively encouraging as many people as possible to join us in our quest to restore Dalymount Park to its former glory."
