Sligo Rovers dumped Saint Patrick's Athletic out of the FAI Cup tonight, furthering the Saints' slip towards mediocrity.
Chris Armstrong put the Saints ahead ten minutes before half-time after a swift counter-attack and powerful shot from distance.
Kupono Low levelled on 40 minutes though after a move down the wing. Low cut inside and fired home.
Robbie Doyle came close to putting the Saints ahead again just before the hour but Sligo keeper John O'Hara pulled off a fine save to deny him.
Paul McTiernan struck for the winner on 70 minutes, firing home from close range as he connected with Ian Rossiter's cross.
The win emphasises Sligo's ability and why they lead the first division but St. Pats' fans now have nothing more to look forward to this season other than trying to avoid relegation.
