Drogheda United 0
Shamrock Rovers 0
United Park
Drogheda United and Shamrock Rovers played out a 0-0 draw of few chances at United Park tonight. The result does little for either side's league ambitions although the point will probably prove useful for Rovers as those behind them are making very slow progress.
Drogheda weathered a couple of early Rovers chances which saw Tony Sheridan and Marc Kenny fire off target, to create chances of their own.
Steven Grey fired against the post from long range after a well worked free kick. Grey again hit the woodwork for the home side later on.
Jermaine Sandvliet fired over from a good position for the Drogs in the second period but Trevor Molloy probably had the chance of the game for Rovers. He brought a save from goalkeeper Dan Connor as he got in to fire a shot from close range.
Grey came close again but his header from Keith Fahey's was straight at goalkeeper Barry Murphy.
Drogheda United : Connor, Lynch, Gartland, Bernard (Fahey 46), Grey, Gavin, Robinson (Ristila 75), Whelan, O'Brien, Malcolm (Leech 64), Sandvliet.
Shamrock Rovers : Murphy, Shelley, Rutherford, McDonagh, McDonnell, Foley, Quigley (Bernard 58), Molloy, Roche, Kenny (Treacy 67), Sheridan (Manley 75).
