The Showgrounds
The drama was crammed into the dying minutes of tonight's game at the Showgrounds in Sligo. Hosts Sligo Rovers thought they have won the match when they took the lead in the 90th minute but more drama was to follow with Saint Patrick's Athletic levelling in injury time.
Darren Mansaram created the best of the chances for the home side in the early going. He had a long range shot parried by goalkeeper Barry Ryan in the first half and again tested Ryan just after half-time. Trevor Molloy had miscued Pats' best chance of the first period from Mark Rutherford's build-up play.
Vinnie Perth should have put the Saints ahead before any of the late drama but he somehow missed the target from close range after Sligo keeper John O'Hara had parried Alan Reilly's free-kick.
Former Saint Keith Foy put Rovers ahead in the final minute after Adam Hughes had been dragged down in the box by John Frost.
However, four minutes later Perth popped up to net his first goal for the Saints, turning Mark Quigley's corner kick home.
The result preserves the Dublin side's unbeaten start to the season and leaves Sligo just one point behind them.
