The All-Ireland finals of the Ribena sponsored FAI Schools 5-a-side took place in Navan on Wednesday. It was the sixth successive year the event was held at the Meath & District League Grounds and with five trophies to be decided, 1,200 people turned up to support proceedings.

Bohola National School of Mayo had a double celebration as their boys and girls teams won the small schools sections. The boys finished ahead of Cloontagh of Donegal to retain the title they won last year. The girls team overcame Cork's Scoil Iosagain Aghada on goal difference.

St. Mary's Virginia of Cavan created history as they lifted the boys B crown, becoming the first Cavan school to claim a National crown. Amongst their supporters was FAI regional development officer for the area, Tom Mohan. St. Mary's overcame St. Damian's of Walkinstown (Dublin).

County Clare's Holy Family Ennis claimed the girls B title when they edged out Dundalk's St. Joseph's.

St. Joseph's boys team lifted the C title when they won all three group games scoring sixteen goals in the process. They finished ahead of Abbey National School (Roscommon). The Dundalk's school's Samuel Osobe is reportedly being tracked by English club Manchester United.

FAI Schools' Ray Scott (National Administrator) & Paul Holland ( Leinster Co-ordinator) afterwards praised the magnificent facilities of the MDL grounds and thanked the players, teachers, referees (Meath Branch), stewards (Gaelscoil na Ríthe Dunshaughlin) , supporters & sponsors Ribena Toothkind, for providing such an enjoyable & sporting tournament.
