Saint Patrick's Athletic returned to winning ways tonight to end Sligo Rovers's good run at Richmond Park tonight. The Saints came out on the right side of a 3-1 scoreline with strikers Trevor Molloy and Paul Keegan contributing the goals.
Adam Hughes missed a glorious opportunity to put Sligo ahead after 15 minutes but he somehow managed to fire against the woodwork with the goal at his mercy.
Molloy scored a typically high quality opening goal after 20 minutes after turning and firing home inside the box to put Pats ahead after David Mulcahy's initial shot fell kindly for the striker.
Sligo themselves scored a superb equaliser just minutes before half-time. Keith Foy played in the free kick and as the Pats defence looked on, Darren Mansaram volleyed home to make it 1-1.
Alan Reilly just missed the target with a header in first half injury time but the Saints didn't have to wait long before they restored their lead after half-time. Molloy got his second of the night on 48 minutes as he curled home a shot from the edge of the box.
Keegan played a one-two with Reilly on 75 minutes before slotting home the home-side's third to wrap up the win.
