Shelbourne are up third in the Premier Division of the eircom League after holding on for a 2-1 win over Dublin City at Dalymount Park on Friday night.
Bobby Ryan fired Shels in front after 16 minutes as he blasted the ball home from long range after Dublin City only half cleared Joseph Ndo's corner kick.
Ndo made it 2-0 one minute before half time as he pounced on a loose ball after Dublin keeper Gary Rogers failed to hold onto Jason Byrne's free kick.
Dublin City fought back and got a goal on 66 minutes as David Freeman got in on the end of a poor backpass from Sean Dillon. He flicked the ball past Dean Delaney to give the Vikings some hope.
Paul Shiels went close to grabbing a dramatic late equaliser but missed the target.
