Dungannon Swifts 0

Cork City 0

Stangmore Park

Cork City may have a difficult season ahead of them as they at times struggled against tournament outsiders Dungannon Swifts at Stangmore Park tonight. The game finished 0-0 and although Cork finished strongly, DUngannon proved they are going to do more than just make up the numbers.

Roy O'Donovan should have opened the scoring in the first period but failed to find the net with the Dungannon keeper stranded. Liam Kearney and Dan Murray both also went close in the first period.

David Scullion brought the best out of Cork keeper Michael Devine early in the first half and Cork were fortunate their keeper was on top form. He went on to make another super stop to deny Paul Barron before the break.

Cork might have had a penalty after the break when Roy O'Donovan went down a challenge from Adam McMinn in the box.

Either side could have won it in the dying moments with Scullion going close before Murray saw an effort come back off the crossbar.

Dungannon Swifts : Nelson, Wray, Gallagher, Montgomery, McMinn, McCluskey, McCabe (T Fitzpatrick 22), McAree, McAllister, Baron (Hammill 76), Scullion (Everaldo 89).
Cork City : Devine, Ryan, O'Callaghan, Murray, O'Brien, Gamble, O'Donovan, Cillian Lordan, Kearney, Behan, Kelly (Softic 64).
