Limerick 37 and Athlone Town remain unbeaten after two rounds of the eircom League First Division. The sides drew 1-1 as Limerick 37 made their home debut at Jackman Park on Friday night.
Kevin Waters had given the home side the perfect start in just the tenth minute as his free kick from just outside the box grazed the underside of the crossbar and went in to open the scoring.
Athlone's Noel McGee got in spectacularly to turn home Ronan Frawley's flick on and level the game just before half-time.
Joey Maloney almost got in to put Limerick ahead again in the second half but was crowded out while Padraig Moran also went close for 37.
David O'Dowd almost grabbed all three points for Athlone though when he powered a shot at goal in the closing moments, narrowly missing the target from Colm Heffernana's cross.
