Derry City join Saint Patrick's Athletic as the only team with a perfect record after two rounds of games, the two sides meet next Friday at the Brandywell. Derry won 2-0 today at the Showgrounds against Sligo Rovers.

Mark Farren had an early penalty saved by Sligo keeper Richard Brush before Barry Molloy and Kevin McHugh struck within the closing ten minutes of the first half.

Brush managed to push Farren's ninth minute penalty around the post after Gareth McGlynn had been fouled in the area.

Both Derry strikes had a hint of good fortune with Molloy's taking a helpful deflection while McHugh's hit the bar and then a defender before finding the net. Despite that, Derry's goals were well merited and reward for their performance.

Dave Rogers marked his league debut for Derry City by picking up a straight red card in the dying minutes after a two footed challenge on Sligo's Chris Turner.

Sligo Rovers : Brush, Turner, MacKenzie, Peers, Foy (Kelly 80), Cretaro, O'Grady, Curran (Coleman 49), McCartney, Kudozovic, Manson (Aisien 69).
Derry City : Jennings, McCallion, Kelly, Oman, Rogers, McGlynn, Deery, Molloy, Martyn, McHugh (Beckett 78), Farren (O'Halloran 86).
