Kilkenny City scored twice in the second half to give the Cats their first points of the season. A 2-0 win away to Monaghan United lifts the Cats up to sixth.

Monaghan were punished for wasteful first half finishing when Kevin Walsh may have just gotten the vital touch to turn home five minutes into the second period after a goal-mouth scramble.

Martin Tynan could have wrapped up the win shortly after but did so in the closing ten minutes as he raced through the stranded Monaghan defence before slotting home.
