Gareth Cambridge 36
Finn Harps 0
Turner's Cross
Cobh Ramblers picked up their first points of the season today with a 1-0 win over Finn Harps at Turner's Cross in the First Division of the League of Ireland. The result lifts Cobh off the foot of the league and crucially moves defending league champions Shelbourne to the bottom of the twenty-two team league.
Gareth Cambridge scored the only goal today inside the final ten minutes of the first half in Cork.
Going into the game looking not only for their first points of the season but also having not hit the net so far, Cobh were also not aided by playing the game at Turner's Cross as work continues on Saint Colman's Park. Harps started brighter but came up against a tough Cobh defence.
Cambridge nipped in to head home on 36 minutes after Kevin Murray headed John Kearney's corner kick back across the face of goal.
The game didn't have an abundance of goal chances and once they went behind, Harps struggled to break down a packed Cobh defence.
