Roy O'Donovan struck his seventh and eighth goals of the season as Cork City won their fourth successive game with a 2-0 win over Longford Town at Turner's Cross - in front of the reopened Shed End.
O'Donovan, building on Monday night's Setanta Sports Cup hat-trick opened the scoring after only nine minutes as he fired home from the edge of the box after Joe Gamble's through ball.
O'Donovan grabbed his second on twenty minutes as the two Irish B internationals again combined. Gamble took a quick corner kick and O'Donovan curled home superbly to the Longford net.
Robbie Martin had a goal chalked off for the visitors but Dan Murray and John O'Flynn suffered similar fates for the home side.
Cork's fifth consecutive clean sheet looked in some jeopardy when Dave Mooney's shot rattled against the crossbar but bounced to safety.
O'Donovan's remarkable form is sure to again attract the attention of a number of English clubs and City will face a battle to hold onto a player out of contract at the end of the year.
For Longford, tonight's loss was their fourth from four games and the third consecutive game they failed to score in.
