Having lost deep in stoppage time last week, Galway suffered another late loss this weekend. Ger Rowe struck in the closing three minutes to give Shamrock Rovers a 1-0 win over the Tribesmen at Tolka Park.
Tadhg Purcell set up Rowe in the dying minutes to force the ball past the despairing dive of goalkeeper Gary Rogers.
Aiden Price had gone close for Rovers earlier but missed a glorious chance with a free header around the hour mark.
Rovers keeper Barry Murphy had to be on his toes against a lively Galway and pulled off a number of important interventions, including at the feet of Barry Moran after a long through ball from Galway.
