Dundalk slipped up for the first time this season as they dropped points in a 1-1 draw away to Monaghan United in the First Division of the eircom League of Ireland.

John Flanagan powered home a 25th minute header as he connected with Cathal O'Connor's free kick.

However, a sluggish Dundalk couldn't build on the goal and Monaghan were level on 37 minutes. Robbie Farrell turned home from Cian Mackey's cross.

Farrell almost put the home side ahead before the break but Dundalk keeper Chris Bennion did well to keep him out.

Neither side went that close to scoring the second period until Monaghan's Michael Kerr drove a free kick narrowly wide in the final minute.
