Saint Patrick's Athletic managed to make a number of changes to their side and still win easily on their visit to Portadown in tonight's Setanta Sports Cup game. With little riding on the game, the Saints extended their good start to the season as they ran out 3-0 winners.
Already assured of their home semi-final the Saints only now have to wait on news of who they face and when they face them.
Eamon Lynch netted his first goal for the Inchicore club to open the scoring seven minutes into the second period. Pouncing clinically on a defensive error, Lynch fired home.
Ten minutes later, Sean O'Connor scored to make it 2-0. Lynch was this time the provider after a bit of magic out wide, he sent in a cross for O'Connor to tap home from close range.
Just when Portadown thought they would claim some small consolation from the game, Saints keeper Brendan Clarke saved from Marc McCann's 70th minute penalty.
Almost immediately the visitors broke and O'Connor netted his second of the night to make it 3-0 after a surging run.
