Bohemians gained a measure of revenge for the eircom League defeat of a couple of weeks ago as they defeated Bray Wanderers in the first round of the eircom League Cup at Dalymount Park tonight. Two of the Bohs new boys weighed in with the goals in a 3-1 win.
After early pressure which saw Darren Mansaram miss a couple of early chances to put Bohs in front, he did net the opener on 29 minutes. The tall striker controlled a ball from Dean Pooley superbly before firing home.
The ex Sligo man made it 2-0 on 42 minutes as Chris Kingsberry lost possession in the box. The ball fell to Mansaram who made no mistake from close range.
Kingsberry made it 3-0 on the stroke of half-time as he ran in and finished from Thomas Heary's through ball.
Bray got a late consolation at the very end when Paul Caffrey got in through a Bohs defence waiting for the final whistle before slotting home.
Bohs now face Shelbourne at Tolka Park in the second round of the competition.
