Bray Wanderers secured a dramatic late equaliser to deny Cork City a win at the Carlisle Grounds for a third successive time. Tonight's game finished 1-1 after Paul Caffrey's penalty deep in stoppage time.
Cork City struggled to break down the home side and were slightly fortunate not to fall behind in the first half. Clive Delaney slammed a header against the Cork crossbar early in proceedings and the Seagulls almost pounced after sloppy play from Liam Kearney.
Cork improved after the half-time break and John O'Flynn turned and fired over from long range shortly after the resumption. Dan Murray had a shot saved by goalkeeper Chris O'Connor but Cork finally broke the deadlock on 63 minutes.
Neal Horgan struck for his first goal in over 18 months fired Cork in front. Delaney miscued an attempted clearance and after Roy O'Donovan played the ball in, Horgan fired home from O'Flynn's knock down.
Bray thought they had a penalty soon after when Pat Whelan pointed to the spot for an apparent handball but the visitors earned a reprieve when the linesman signalled instead for a free kick.
However, there was no let off in stoppage time when Delaney broke into the Cork box and won a penalty following a handball by Admir Softic. After some delaying tactics from City, Caffrey stepped up to slot home and deny Cork three much needed points.
