Dave Mooney netted his third goal of the season to give Longford Town their first win of the season. Mooney has scored all three of Longford's league goals this season as Town beat Waterford United 1-0 at Flancare Park tonight.

Just as in last week's draw with Galway, Longford had to play out a long spell a man down following a sending off, this week it was Darragh Doyle taking the early bath.

A fine team goal saw Mooney fire home to the top corner of Waterford's net after 24 minutes. Doyle and Robbie Martin combined before Mooney collected from Martin and fired in.

Doye had been walking the tight-rope in the second half and earned his second yellow card on the hour after a foul on Daryl Kavanagh.

Waterford couldn't find a way back into the game and now slip bottom of the Premier Division while Longford climb to tenth.
