Finn Harps 0

Station Road

Finn Harps' miserable start to 2007 continued at Station Road, Newbridge tonight as they lost 1-0 to Kildare County. The home side's win lifts them to fifth but a fourth loss from seven league games leaves the County Donegal side reeling third from bottom.

Phillip Gorman scored what proved to be the only goal of the game in the 43rd minute. Following a fairly even first half, Kildare unlocked the visiting defence and Gorman headed home from Paul Rigney's cross.

Harps came out better after the break and went close on a number of occasions. Conor Gethins just failed to connect with a dangerous Tony Shields cross before goalkeeper Austin O'Neill saved well from Seamus Browne.

Despite pressurizing, Harps struggled to create many shooting chances and had a let off when Padraig Ammond's penalty appeal was waved away.

Kildare weathered the storm to collect their second league win of the season.
