Cork City's FIFA appeal rejected

Monday 23rd April 2007, 3:44 pm

FIFA have rejected Cork City's appeal on the eligibility of Gareth Farrelly and Colin Healy. The player's are currently ineligible for Cork after representing two other clubs in the last year.

Manager Damien Richardson expressed his disappointment when he told "This further intransigence shown by FIFA compounds my belief that we are whistling into the wind in this matter, and it looks like an appeal would be a futile gesture on behalf of the club. The players concerned, Gareth Farrelly and Colin Healy, are crestfallen at this latest rejection, and feel further isolated from their team-mates and supporters, as well as from their professional counterparts all across Europe."

The Cork City statement issued today also states, "Cork City Football Club now realise that the one last option remaining is an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport."
