Conor Sammon's late header denied Longford Town back to back wins in the Premier Division of the eircom League tonight. The striker found the net to earn UCD a 2-2 home draw against the midlanders at Belfield Park.

Paul Byrne had fired UCD into a 25th minute lead as he curled home from the edge of the box after charging down Damien Brennan's attempted clearance.

Longford though have shown plenty of resolve in recent weeks and they equalised inside ten minutes of the second half. Former UCD player Robbie Martin scored after a neat turn and finish to slot the ball home after John Reilly's long ball picked him out.

Reilly himself made it 2-1 just after the hour as he capitalized when Dave Mooney's cross rebounded off keeper Matt Gregg.

With Longford looking set for back to back wins, Sammon headed in in the final minute as he connected with Ian Bermingham's cross to make it 2-2. The point moves UCD up to sixth while Longford slip back into the relegation places after Galway's win.
