Cork City won 4-3 on penalties

Cork City eventually edged past the Kerry League in tonight's third eircom League second round game. Having fallen behind to a first half penalty, an own goal dragged City level in the closing twenty minutes after Kerry had been reduced to ten men shortly after half-time.
Cork themselves finished with ten when Billy Woods was red carded in the closing ten minutes of normal time.
David Conway had put Kerry ahead from the penalty spot in the 39th minute after Darren Murphy had handled in the area.
Kerry lost Stephen O'Mahoney to a red card very shortly after half-time but still looked set to record a shock win even after the arrival of three of City's first teamers.
One of those, John O'Flynn, created the eventual 70th minute equaliser though. The City striker's shot had initially been saved but Stephen Conway could only divert the loose ball past his own keeper.
Extra-time provided no goals before the League of Ireland Premier Division side advanced to the quarter-finals 4-3 in the penalty shoot-out.
Cork join UCD and Finn Harps along with Tuesday's five winners in the quarter-final draw which will be the first "open" draw of the competition where regional setting won't decide pairings.
