Galway United and UCD battled the elements as much as each other at a blustery Terryland Park in the Premier Division of the League of Ireland tonight playing out a 0-0 draw.

Galway had the better of the chances with UCD keeper Matt Gregg putting in a starring role to keep the Tribesmen scoreless. However, the College almost snatched all three points in the latter stages of the game.

Ciaran Foley had a dipping long range free kick well saved by Gregg early on.

The College keeper made a couple of excellent saves in the second period though. He saved from Barry Moran's header at goal from Philip Reilly's cross. Reilly was also the provider as Gregg got across to keep out Stephen O'Flynn's deft flicked header at goal.

With less than fifteen minutes remaining UCD's Derek Doyle just couldn't convert after build-up play from Shane McFaul.

UCD climb to fifth after picking up a point while Galway remain in the bottom three.

Galway United : Rogers, James (McKenna 40), Lester, Charles, Reilly, Moran (Glynn 68), Russell, Foley, Murphy, O'Brien, O'Flynn.
UCD : Gregg, Mahon, Kenna, McNally, Bermingham, C Byrne, Crowley, McFaul, Doyle (Purcell 83), P Byrne, Sammon.
