Bray Wanderers picked up a much needed win at the Carlisle Grounds in Bray tonight as they ran out 2-0 winners against Sligo Rovers - bringing the western side back to down to earth after their emphatic win over Cork City last weekend.
Bray had to weather an early storm and had goalkeeper Steve Williams to thank as he saved from a couple of Sligo efforts.
On the back of that, Bray took a 13th minute lead through Clive Delaney. The central defender got in on the end of Alan Cawley's corner kick to flick home a volley via the underside of Richard Brush's crossbar.
Rafael Cretaro almost levelled for Sligo but saw his header from Chris Turner's corner kick just tipped over by Williams.
Andrei Georgescu was in the right place at the right time to make it 2-0 just after the hour. The Bray player tapped home from close range after Gary McCabe's long range shot had rebounded off the Sligo woodwork.
Sligo had no answer and will have to regroup after a disappointing defeat while Bray put three points between themselves and three from bottom.
