Padraig Moran scored the only goal as Limerick 37 beat his former club Athlone Town at the Athlone Town stadium tonight. "37" remain within five points of leaders Dundalk after the win.

Moran slotted home on 32 minutes after a few chances in front of goal. The former Town player slotted past Ciaran Kelly after wriggling past the Athlone defence after Dave Goldbey slotted the ball through to him.

David O'Dowd and Ronan Frawley both failed to level from good positions before half-time.

Athlone had a couple of half chances in the second period but and equaliser never looked that likely. Jim Sheridan headed narrowly over the bar from Stevie Gavin's corner kick but neither side went that close in the second period.

Athlone Town : Kelly, Rossiter, Young, Frawley, Sheridan, Harty, Gavin, Byrne, Lavine (McGee 74), O'Dowd (McTiernan 67), Heffernan (Casey 61).
Limerick 37 : Ryan, Keady, Buckley, Finucane, Purcell, Molan, Goldbey (McCarthy 88), Hayes, Cosgrove, Waters, Moran (Sheehan 81).
