Limerick 37 kept the pressure on as they chase the top two in the First Division of the eircom League of Ireland. Limerick won 2-1 on their trip to face Kildare County tonight.

Kildare felt aggrieved by the decisions of referee Eddie McNally who denied them a penalty before half-time. He would later award Limerick a spot kick and send off two home players.

Goalkeeper John Flynn was sent off on 77 minutes after a collision with Limerick's Dave Goldbey. The referee ruled that the Kildare keeper had committed a professional foul. Kevin Waters stepped up and slotted home the resulting penalty.

Waters made it 2-0 on 82 minutes as he beat young keeper Colin Cassidy with a header from Ross Cosgrave's corner kick. For the second week in a row Cassidy came off the bench after Kildare's starting keeper had been sent off.

Kildare discipline slipped a little and Alan O'Brien was sent off with just over five minutes remaining following a wild lunging tackle.

Ger Robinson forced the ball home on 87 minutes to set up a nervous finish for the visitors but Kildare just couldn't get the equaliser.
