Shelbourne recorded just their second win of the season on Monday night as they ran out 2-0 winners against Kilkenny City at Tolka Park. Shels have now broken clear of the other two sides at the foot of the table.

Shels might have taken the lead after twenty minutes but Mark Leech's shot came back off the upright.

Shels took the lead after 32 minutes when James Chambers eventually scrambled the ball home after Kieran Harte had initially headed against the woodwork.

Kilkenny attacked in periods but their lack of a killer touch cost them as Shels went 2-0 up on 76 minutes. Glen Lacey netted his first Shels goal to wrap up the win.

Lacey finished well as Shels broke quickly down field. The Dublin side eventually finished with ten men as Davitt Walsh was given his marching orders.
