Finn Harps secured a much needed win on their trip to Monaghan on Monday night. Harps ran out 2-0 winners thanks to two late goals and keep alive their outside hopes of entering the promotion picture.
Conor Gethins almost lit up a dull first half but saw two chances just fail to break the deadlock in the final minute of the half. His first chance hit the woodwork with Monaghan keeper Alvin Rouse saving well just after.
Harps made the breakthrough on 74 minutes as Chris Breen marked his 100th game for the club with the opening goal. He got in to volley home after Gethins had torn the home defence apart.
Stephen Parkhouse, who had earlier struck a post, made it 2-0 three minutes from the end as he headed in from Shaun Holmes cross.
Robbie Farrell had come close to levelling just moments earlier but saw goalkeeper James Gallagher pull off a fine save.
