Shamrock Rovers and Bohemians played out a scoreless draw at Tolka Park on Friday night. A point apiece does very little for either side's outside chances of entering the League of Ireland title race.

Bohs had the better of the first half but couldn't create much in the way of clear cut chances. Mark Rossiter failed to direct his header from a good position before Liam Burns went closer with a header of his own.

Rovers defender Mark Langtry retrieved the situation after Darren Mansaram had taken the ball off him. The Rovers defender got back to clear the danger.

Ger Rowe had shouts for a penalty before Rovers keeper Stephen O'Brien had to save from Mansaram before the break.

Rovers were better after the break and Tadhg Purcell just couldn't connect properly with Ger Rowe's cross.

Bohs keeper Brian Murphy was forced to pull off a stunning one handed save to keep out Rowe's header after the hour. Rovers had plenty of possession in the second period but not having players in the right place at the right time cost them.

Bohs almost snatched the lead on 82 minutes when Glen Crowe header goalwards from Owen Heary's cross but former Gypsy Stephen O'Brien flew across his goal to push the ball away.

The home side survived a couple more scares before the end but neither side could grab all three points in the end and remain as they were in third and fourth place.
