Pat Purcell hit the only goal seven minutes into the second half as Limerick 37 secured a 1-0 win on their trip to face Monaghan United on Friday night. The win consolidates Limerick's third place in the table.

Purcell headed home from a Ross Cosgrave corner for what proved to be the only goal in the game on 52 minutes.

Limerick had chances to extend their lead but Tommy Barrett headed against the crossbar and Kevin Waters fired against a post.

Monaghan United : Woods, Whelan, Mooney, Burke, Williamson (McDonald 55), Meenan, Tierney (O'Connor 89), Gannon, D'Arcy, Farrell, Doyle (Finnegan 43).
