eircom League of Ireland First Division

Kilkenny City 0

Finn Harps 1

Declan Boyle 15

Buckley Park

It might not have been overly convincing but an early Declan Boyle goal sent Finn Harps on their way to a sixth consecutive win in the First Division of the eircom League of Ireland. Boyle's fifteenth minute goal gave Harps a 1-0 win over Kilkenny City at Buckley Park tonight.

Harps had started poorly and should have been behind before they took the lead. Martin Tynan missed a great chance as did Sikula moments later.

Boyle nipped in for what was ultimately the only goal of the game when Boyle finished from close range.

Harps could well have wrapped up their win before half-time. Stephen Parkhouse failed to find the net when played in one-on-one and Conor Gethins had a goal ruled out in controversial circumstances before the break.

A poor second half saw Harps just about content to hold onto what they had. Harps remain in touch with third placed Limerick 37 and thirteen points behind leaders Dundalk.

Kilkenny City : Fennelly, Fogarty, Sheridan, Fitzgerald, O'Connor, Cantwell, Comerford (Ryan 78), Grant, Sikula (Kent 80), Tynan, Polenzcak (Rockett 75).
Finn Harps : Gallagher, Roddy, Minnock, Boyle, McGowan, Shields, Brolly, Crossan (Divin 64), Parkhouse, Gethins, Holmes.
