Galway United's search for a first home win goes on after they fell to two second half goals from Cork City's Roy O'Donovan at Terryland Park tonight. City ran out 2-1 winners in the League of Ireland Premier Division game despite the Tribesmen taking an early lead.
Derek O'Brien had headed Galway in front after only fifteen minutes as he connected with Alan Murphy's inch perfect cross. Galway had been the better side to that point but had goalkeeper Gary Rogers to thank after he saved well to deny Colin Healy.
Galway held that lead until almost the tenth minute of the second half until O'Donovan levelled on 54 minutes as Cork took full advantage of a slip in the Galway defence.
O'Donovan secured what proved to be the winning goal on 74 minutes as he fired in his nineteenth goal of the season. John O'Flynn was again the creator after he had earlier set up the equaliser.
Galway United : Rogers, James (Lester 77), Nootimer, Reilly, Charles, Murphy, Fagan (Foley 67), Robson, O'Brien, Moran (Faherty 66), Glynn.
Cork City : Devine, Horgan, Murray, Kelly, Woods, Kearney, Lordan, Healy, Farrelly (O'Brien 85), O'Flynn (Behan 86), O'Donovan (MacSweeney 90).
