Monaghan United claimed their third league win of the season to move up to seventh in the First Division of the League of Ireland tonight. Monaghan ran out 2-0 winners against Wexford Youths at Kingspan Century Park tonight.

Monaghan came into the game after Lloyd Colfer had given them an early scare by narrowly missing the target. Wexford goalkeeper Jason Russell pulled off a good save to keep out Willie Doyle's header shortly before half-time.

The deadlock was eventually broken fifteen minutes from the end when Monaghan's Darren Meenan lashed home a twenty yard shot.

Four minutes later with Wexford still reeling, Robbie Farrell forced the ball home as they visitors made a meal of clearing the ball for his seventh goal of the season.
