Derek Glynn scored his eighth goal of the season late in proceedings to give Galway United a share of the points in Saturday night's League of Ireland Premier Division Connacht derby at the Showgrounds. Sligo Rovers and Galway United played out a 1-1 draw which has no impact on the league table.

Sligo had started better with a couple of efforts forcing saves from Galway keeper Gary Rogers. Faz Kudozovic also fired a shot over as Sligo pressed for the opening goal.

Rovers keeper Richard Brush made a vital block just before half-time to prevent Derek O'Brien from flicking the ball home for Galway.

Sligo eventually took the lead just before the hour mark as Matthew Judge forced the ball home. Conor O'Grady's initial shot had been saved but O'Grady himself collected the loose ball and laid off for Judge to score.

Rogers saved well to deny Kudozovic from a dead ball as Rovers looked to kill off the game.

However, Galway and Glynn struck five minutes from the end to level matters. Regi Nootimer's long throw found Alan Murphy and after his initial shot was saved, Glynn turned the ball home.
