Roy O'Donovan's twentieth goal of the season sent Cork City on their way to a 2-0 win over Waterford United at Turner's Cross tonight. The win leaves Cork still within striking distance of the top four.

Cork survived an early scare before Leon MacSweeney wrapped up the win with his first goal for the club just before the end.

Sullivan had the perfect opportunity to put Waterford ahead on 25 minutes after Dan Murray had been punished for a handball in the box. However, the former City striker failed to convert from the penalty spot, clipping the top of the Cork crossbar before flying into safety behind.

O'Donovan finished off a great team move to fire Cork in front on 37 minutes. Liam Kearney provided the final ball for O'Donovan to slot in his thirteenth league goal of the year.

He might have had another just after the break but crashed a long range effort off the woodwork with goalkeeper Dean Delaney beaten.

MacSweeney lashed home from the edge of the box after Denis Behan flicked Michael Devine's clearance into his path.
