On a night of surprise draws in the First Division of the League of Ireland Kilkenny City and Dundalk played out a scoreless draw at Buckley Park, Kilkenny.
Brave resistance from Tommy Gaynor's improving Kilkenny kept the division leaders at bay despite some near misses.
Paul Smyth should have put Dundalk ahead early in proceedings but couldn't convert from a good position.
Kilkenny had chances too but Ian Barnes' volley just missed the Dundalk goal after half-time. At the other end though John Flanagan had clipped the Kilkenny crossbar and Trevor Vaughan tested it again in stoppage time with a header.
