Limerick 37 claimed the eighth spot in this season's FAI Cup quarter-finals with a hard-fought 1-0 win over over Douglas Hall at Turner's Cross in tonight's third round replay.

John Tierney hit the winner two minutes from the end as Limerick finished the game with ten men. Ross Cosgrave, the scorer of their goal in the 1-1 draw with Hall on Friday, was sent off with just over ten minutes remaining on the clock.

Munster Senior League side Douglas Hall went close either side of the hour as Brendan O'Connoll had two efforts come back off the Limerick woodwork.

Limerick had their chance to go ahead on 64 minutes but goalkeeper Adrian O'Donovan saved superbly from Kevin Waters' penalty. The kick had been awarded after Derek McCarthy had gone done under a challenge from Kevin Mulcahy.

Cosgrave picked up his second booking of the night on 79 minutes to end his night early.

With the tie seemingly set for extra-time, Tierney pounced on a mistake in the home defence to fire home the 88th minute winner.
