Sligo Rovers 1

Adam Hughes 63

Referee : Declan Hanney

Dave Mooney's fourteenth league goal of the season wasn't enough to give Longford Town the win they needed to climb off the bottom of the League of Ireland Premier Division tonight. Sligo Rovers fought back to earn a 1-1 draw with "the Town" at Flancare Park.

Mooney struck the goal that moved him level with Roy O'Donovan at the top of the Premier Division league goals chart just before the half hour. The in-form striker slotted home after taking Mark Rutherford's through ball in his stride before beating goalkeeper Richard Brush.

Sligo had a goal ruled out for offside just before half-time when Matt Gordon was ruled offside after pouncing on a loose ball. Sligo though deserved to get back in the game and grabbed their equaliser just after the hour.

Seamus Coleman created the chance with Fahrudin Kudozovic playing the ball through and Adam Hughes slotted the ball past Longford goalkeeper Shay Kelly to make it 1-1.

Longford shaded the closing period of play but Sligo held on against a couple of scares for a point.

Denied a sixth win from seven games Longford keep the pressure on the sides just ahead of them, particularly Waterford.
