Dundalk's faltering promotion push continued this evening as they fell to their four successive loss away from home, and their fifth in a row without a win on the road.

Two goals from Cathal Brady and another from Eoghan Carew gave Kildare a 3-0 lead before the fifth minute of the second half.

Brady slotted home his first League of Ireland goal on 14 minutes after Barry Clancy played the ball through the Dundalk defence.

It was 2-0 shortly after half-time as Carew turned home after Philip Gorman's header had been blocked.

With Dundalk beginning to take chances already to get back into the game, Brady ran through from close to halfway and finished well to make it 3-0 before the 50th minute.

Trevor Vaughan grabbed a goal back for Dundalk a couple of minutes from the end but the defeat sees Dundalk slip seven points behind leaders Cobh Ramblers. Dundalk got their consolation after Kildare keeper Austin O'Neill brought Philip Hughes in the box and Vaughan slotted home from the penalty spot.
