A 2-1 win over injury hit UCD moved Sligo Rovers up to fifth in the League of Ireland Premier Division table and to within five points of second placed Shamrock Rovers.

Adam Hughes fired Sligo in front after only six minutes as he stole in on the end of Brian Cash's driven cross.

Mary Boyd and Cash both went close for the home side before the break but the remainder of the first half saw little in the way of goal chances.

Conor Kenna handled on the ground ten minutes into the second half as he attempted to tackle Rafael Cretaro. Keith Foy stepped up to slot home the resulting penalty to make it 2-0.

UCD battled to the end but didn't salvage anything until the last minute of the game.

Paul Murphy got a goal back as he forced home from close range but it was too late for the visitors to save a point from a difficult away day.
