Limerick 37's first season in League of Ireland football is slipping away and they could yet face a major battle to hold onto fourth place in the First Division. "37" lost 3-0 tonight on their visit to Newbridge to face Kildare County.

The night started badly and got worse for Limerick. Derek McCarthy was sent off after 26 minutes for handling Philip Gorman's goal-bound shot. Gorman fired home the resulting penalty to put Kildare 1-0 up.

Cathal Brady made it 2-0 a couple of minutes before half-time. Limerick's luck deserted them as Gorman blocked an attempted clearance out of defence but after his shot was blocked, the ball fell to Brady who fired home from distance.

Gorman grabbed his second of the night to make it 3-0 just after the hour as Limerick again self destructed. Goalkeeper Dave Ryan hit Gorman with an attempted clearance with the ball rebounding past the keeper into the net.

Limerick's misery was complete three minutes from the end as Bobby Gregg was red carded to leave the visitors with just nine men on the field for the final whistle. Substitute Gregg managed to get himself booked in what turned out to be just an eight minute spell on the pitch.
