Mick Wallace made a dangerous prediction ahead of Friday's game that his Wexford Youths side would extend their unbeaten run against Limerick 37.
Limerick eventually ran out 5-0 winners against the Youths to reinforce their hopes of a fourth place finish in the First Division.
Shane Clarke gave Limerick the perfect start, putting them ahead as early as the third minute. Clarke headed in from John Tierney's deep cross to put the home side ahead at Jackman Park.
Johnny Flynn-O'Connor missed with great opportunity to level before the half-hour following sloppy play from home keeper Dave Ryan.
Clarke forced the ball home to make it 2-0 on 33 minutes after Kevin Waters' initial shot had been saved.
Pat Purcell made it 3-0 just before half-time, getting in to head home Waters' corner kick.
That was the end of the scoring until the closing minutes. Donie Curtain's cross was turned into his own net by Wexford's Stuart Lawlor two minutes from the end.
The fifth goal arrived in the final minute as Waters got his reward for earlier good work. He lashed home a long range shot to make it 5-0.
