Shelbourne's hopes of clinching fourth place in the First Division of the League of Ireland may have slipped away following a 0-0 draw with Kilkenny City at Tolka Park on Friday night.

Mark O'Brien missed a glorious chance to put Shels ahead midway through the first half but somehow missed the target with the goal at his mercy.

Aidan Collins also went close with a header before it was cleared off the line.

Kilkenny improved in the second half and Ted O'Connor narrowly missed the target as the Cats fashioned a couple of good chances.

A frustrating night ended scoreless in Dublin and the visitors are likely to be far happier with the outcome.
