Cobh Ramblers 1
Alan Carey 62
Kildare County 0
St. Colman's Park
Referee : Conor Fitzgerald
Alan Carey's goal just after the hour proved decisive as Cobh Ramblers secured the win they needed to at least temporarily return to the summit of the League of Ireland First Division. Carey's goal gave Cobh a 1-0 win over Kildare County at Saint Colman's Park tonight.
Carey drilled home a 62nd minute free kick to give Cobh a tougher than expected victory over Kildare.
Despite being on top, Cobh looked like being frustrated as they failed to create too many good chances.
Kieran O'Reilly narrowly missed the target before Carey hit the only goal of the game.
Carey curled the set-piece home past Colin Cassidy from just outside the box.
Finn Harps will now have to avoid defeat in Monaghan on Sunday to regain top spot.
